TheTripDate ("we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains how we handle information when you use thetripdate.com.

1. Information we collect

TheTripDate is designed with privacy in mind. We collect minimal information:

Information you provide: Trip details, destinations, dates and preferences you enter into the planner. This data is processed in your browser and is not stored on our servers.
Waitlist emails: If you join our waitlist, we collect your email address solely to notify you of our launch and updates.
Usage data: We may collect anonymised analytics (pages visited, features used) to improve the product. This data cannot be used to identify you.

2. How we use your information

To provide and improve the TheTripDate service
To send you launch notifications if you joined our waitlist (you can unsubscribe at any time)
To understand how people use the product so we can make it better

3. AI processing

TheTripDate uses the Anthropic Claude API to generate itineraries and date plans. When you generate a trip, your input (destinations, dates, preferences) is sent to Anthropic's API for processing. Anthropic's own privacy policy governs how they handle this data. We do not include personally identifiable information in API requests.

4. Data storage

Your itinerary data is stored locally in your browser session only. We do not store your trip plans on our servers. When you close your browser tab, your itinerary data is cleared. We recommend using the Export function to save your plans.

5. Cookies

We use a single cookie to remember your dark mode preference. No tracking or advertising cookies are used.

6. Third parties

We use the following third-party services:

Vercel: Hosting provider. Your IP address may be logged by Vercel for security purposes.
Anthropic: AI provider for itinerary generation.
Google Fonts: For typography. Google may log font requests.

7. Your rights

You have the right to access, correct or delete any personal data we hold about you. To exercise these rights, contact us at hello@thetripdate.com.

8. Children's privacy

TheTripDate is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify waitlist members of any material changes by email.
